[Guide] Newbie Guide: How to Be a Bad Target

This guide is for people who are caught offline and/or without a shield, and aren't powerful enough to retaliate against their attackers, which will include most new players and new guilds, most of the time they're attacked.

*********************************

1)  Accept that you're going to be attacked, and you'll probably be attacked often.  Don't take it personally, don't complain, and don't send your attacker a message.  Hopefully, this guide will make it less painful.  If you can't handle being attacked, you're playing the wrong game.

2)  Join a guild with an established hive, and relocate to the hive immediately.  If you don't have a relocator (a regular relocator, not a random one), join a guild with a hive nearby, to give you some help and protection until you can relocate there.  The rest of these tips work best if the whole hive follows them, or as much of the hive as possible, kind of like a vaccine against attacks, so share this post with your hive.

3)  Keep resources in your bag until you use them; attackers can't take anything in your bag.  Whenever you construct, train, research, or do any other task that needs resources, any resource you're lacking will have a red plus button next to it.  This button takes you to your bag, and helps you pick just the amount you need for your task.  Ideally, you should have just the following resources left over after a task--food: as close to 0 as possible, gold: less than 50K, other resources: less than 100K each.  (Your troops will happily eat food when it's available, but take no damage when it runs out. So you actually save food by running out as often as you can.)  This may seem annoying, but once you get used to it, it becomes automatic.  Also, you can still track your total resources, bagged and available, just by clicking on your city.  If everyone in your hive does this, then your hive collectively becomes a much less attractive target.

4)  Never pay a ransom.  First of all, use your shelter to protect your leader whenever you log off, and set it to 12 hours.  But if your leader does get captured, never ever pay a ransom, and don't respond to the attacker.  That just encourages the attacker to strike again.  Even if your leader is executed, they'll magically come back to life and return to you in seven days, or immediately if you use a revival fruit (which you can buy with guild coins).

5)  Don't shelter all your troops; leave as many troops in your castle as your infirmaries will hold. All your casualties will go to your infirmaries and not get killed.  Only 60% of the attacker's casualties go to their infirmaries, the rest die.  Individually, you may not do much damage, but if the attacker tries to sweep the hive, all those fatalities add up, and every little bit counts.  If you're an F2P (free-to-play) player, I would strongly advise having several infirmaries.  (Research the "bruiser build" for detailed building advice, here's one good guide: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1X4V6jaA_0tkGuD2ZJDYeOK0gApGDxYuErFK1Im9V1Ek/mobilebasic )

*********************************

Please remember, this is just a basic guide, it doesn't cover counter attacks, or trap accounts, which there are plenty of good guides for when you get more powerful.  If you follow these 5 tips, and get most of your hive to follow the last 3 tips, you will still get attacked, but not as much, and not as painfully.

Good luck and remember, it's not a game if you're not having fun.

Under Step 3, I meant to say, you can still track your total resources, bagged and available, just by clicking on your **castle** (instead of city).  Note: Resources still in your bag are listed as Resources "From Items".

Never use anti-scout in this case. It causes the enemy to think you've got a lot of rss and troops out so they will attack multiple times

I wouldn't recommend to leave troops outside the shelter if you can save them all >.<

Most attackers look mainly to increase their kill count. Thats being said I would be happy if a lot guilds would follow your guide lol.
